Post Script on Latvian Democracy
Perhaps it (people's direct power over politicians) exists! After last Saturday's protest, the president - who has the power to disband the parliament and the prime minister - asked the prime minister and the parliament to resign, and the prime minister has agreed to leave his post on Dec. 5. Though we'll see whether it will actually happen...

Amazing, isn't it -- a country's parliament gets disbanded and we in the U.S. of A. hear absolutely nothing about it.
Instead, we hear over and over about Pakistan. And is it just me, or does Benazir Bhutto's voice sound kind of like that woman from "The Nanny"? Nasal and annoying.
